Billionaire Investor Ray Dalio Warns U.S. Has a 1 in 3 Chance of Civil War

(Chaz Anon) As the United States teeters on the precipice of something ominous, Bridgewater Associates founder Ray Dalio has issued a stark warning: the country could be on the verge of a civil war. But in a twist that could only be born of the surreal times we live in, Dalio sees a potential savior in the form of a certain blonde pop star.

In a candid interview with the Financial Times, Dalio pegged the odds of the U.S. descending into civil strife at a chilling 35% to 40%. "We are now on the brink," Dalio proclaimed. Yet, he added, "We don’t yet know if we will cross over into much more turbulent times."

This wouldn't be a civil war in the traditional sense, Dalio muses, but rather a deepening rift within the nation's political and cultural fabric. Imagine a modern exodus where citizens migrate to states that echo their ideological leanings, disregarding federal mandates issued by opposing factions.

Dalio believes the upcoming federal elections hold monumental significance, arguably the most critical in his 74 years. The 2024 presidential race is shaping up to be another showdown between the incumbent Democrat Joe Biden and former Republican president Donald Trump. The integrity of U.S. democratic institutions, already tested in the tumultuous 2016 and 2020 elections, hangs in the balance, especially in the wake of the January 6th Capitol insurrection by Trump loyalists rejecting Biden's victory.

This year's elections, Dalio asserts, will be a litmus test for the functionality of democracy and whether its principles will be respected amidst increasing polarization.

Yet, amid this bleak outlook, Dalio found a surprising beacon of hope at a Taylor Swift concert. Witnessing the pop icon draw together a diverse crowd, he felt a rare sense of unity that transcended the political chaos. "I saw how she brought people of all sorts — and many nationalities — together. It felt like it would have been impossible to fight," he remarked. "I say this partly as a joke, but if she ran for president and would listen to great advisers, I’d consider supporting her."

In a world gone mad, could Taylor Swift be the unifier America needs? Dalio's musings invite us to ponder the possibilities.
