UK Insurers Deny Nord Stream Payouts, Cite Government-Orchestrated Attack as Reason

(Chaz Anon) The legal team representing insurance juggernauts Lloyd’s and Arch are claiming the Nord Stream pipeline explosion was less an accident and more likely an inside job. The legal team is gearing up to go to court and drop the bombshell that the “West” manufactured the attack via a false flag.

According to Thegrayzone.com, these British insurance brokers are dead set against forking over a penny for the Nord Stream explosions, which happened back in September 2022. They’re arguing that the sabotage was a master class in governmental mischief, not the handiwork of some Ukrainian desperados as the mainstream media's echo chamber has been keen to broadcast.

Digging into the legalese of their argument, Lloyd’s and Arch’s paperwork sings a tune that the explosion was a choreographed attack, likely directed by some shadowy government figures.

legal brief filed on behalf of UK-based firms Lloyd’s Insurance Company and Arch Insurance states that the “defendants will rely on, inter alia, the fact that the explosion Damage could only have (or, at least, was more likely than not to have) been inflicted by or under the order of a government.”

As a result, they argue, “the Explosion Damage was “directly or indirectly occasioned by, happening through, or in consequence of” the conflict between Russia and Ukraine” and falls under an exclusion relating to military conflicts.

Meanwhile, Swiss based Nord Stream AG, the victim of this high-stakes drama, is left holding the bill, which amounts to €1.2 to €1.35 billion worth of damage, and they’re not walking away without a fight. They’re dragging the insurers to court in hopes of prying loose over €400 million in damages.

Erik Andersson, the Swedish engineer who first dove into the murky depths to inspect the pipeline’s scars, sees through the insurers’ gambit.

“If it’s an act of war and ordered by a government, that’s the only way they can escape their responsibility to pay,” Andersson told The Grayzone.

The narrative took a Hollywood twist when Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Seymour Hersh alleged that the US government was responsible for the Nord Stream explosion, a move that had Western powers scrambling to craft a narrative that deflected blame to Ukrainian rogues. But proving Uncle Sam’s alleged dirty deed in court is a tall order, and Lloyd’s and Arch know it.

Even if Nord Stream AG manages to win in the halls of British justice, the insurers are hinting at a last-ditch escape: sanctions might just be their get-out-of-jail-free card. Despite previous sanctions sidelining them from covering Nord Stream 2, they suggest a retroactive magic trick could absolve them from Nord Stream 1 liabilities.

But the real drama unfolds in the heart of London, where Lloyd’s, a titan of the insurance world since 1689, calls home. This case isn’t just about money; it’s about reputation, power, and the geopolitical chess game. Mike Benz, a former cybersecurity honcho at the State Department, frames it as a battle royal for the soul of London’s financial might and, by extension, the West’s economic warfare against Russia.

Should Lloyd’s and Arch wriggle free, it’ll be a Pyrrhic victory. Their dance with US sanctions has already shown a willingness to bend the knee to political pressure, chipping away at the West’s façade of financial independence. If they lose their grip on the global insurance market or their standing as the world’s vault, that €400 million will seem like chump change compared to the cost of their tarnished reputation.
