Candace Owens and Daily Wire Part Ways After She Criticizes Israel
(Chaz Anon) The Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their partnership following months of Owens, a prominent pro-liberty commentator, escalating her criticism of Israel.
“Daily Wire and Candace Owens have ended their relationship,” co-founder and CEO Jeremy Boreing announced Friday on X, without offering further details on the split.
“The rumors are true— I am finally free,” Owens said on X with a link to her website. “There will be many announcements in the weeks to come.”
“This is my personal YouTube page that I will be bringing the show back to after a brief hiatus,” she said in a follow up post asking fans to subscribe. Her independent channel has over 1.4 million subscribers.
Owens's remarks on the continuing Israel-Hamas conflict and U.S. backing for Israel recently led to a public disagreement with Daily Wire co-founder Ben Shapiro, who is an Orthodox Jew and staunch Israel advocate. The pair clashed on X last year following Shapiro's viral video critique, labeling her opinions on Israel as "disgraceful."
“No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other,” Owens said in reference to the viral clip of Shapiro. “You cannot serve both God and money,” she added.
“Candace, if you feel that taking money from The Daily Wire somehow comes between you and God, by all means quit,” Shapiro shot back, prompting Owens to call him “emotionally unhinged” and “unprofessional.”
In an interview on Tucker Carlson on X, the two commentators agreed on Israel, with Carlson aligning himself with Owens in opposition to Shapiro, arguing that the media's focus on the Hamas attacks on October 7th was "disproportionate."
But what really got her in hot water was her recent comments that there is a Jewish “gang” in Hollywood engaging in criminal activity and stated that “DC Jews” were attempting to “silence” people. She suggested there is “rot” in the Jewish community and liked a post on X that claimed Jews drink the blood of Christians.
Owens recently argued that Gen Z TikTok users will blame Jews if the Senate passes legislation requiring ByteDance to divest from TikTok because of the company’s well-documented ties to the Chinese Communist Party. And she previously defended rapper Kanye West from attacks by the ADL and other Jewish protection groups.
Her recent report on Brigitte Macron, the wife of French President Emmanuel Macron, claimed the first lady of France is actually a man, also got her in trouble with the ruling class-controlled mockingbird media.
“After looking into this, I would stake my entire professional reputation on the fact that Brigitte Macron is in fact a man,” Owens said on X.
It seems the split between The Daily Wire and Candace Owens marks a significant change in what is considered conservative media, highlighting the complexities and sensitivities around discussions of foreign policy, especially regarding Israel. Owens's departure after her criticisms of Israel suggests a divergence in viewpoints within conservative circles that could reflect a sea change for those on the right.
