RFK Jr. Thinks Rand Paul Should Be Next GOP Senate Leader
(Steve Watson) Rand Paul is being touted as a successor to Mitch McConnell as leader of Senate Republicans after it was announced that the 82-year-old Senator will step down from the position in November.
McConnell will continue as a Senator until January 2027, according to his office, but speculation has already begun as to who will step up to replace him as the current minority leader.
The latest person to call for Paul to take the mantle is none other than Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
RFK posted an endorsement to X Wednesday, noting “Part of public service is about knowing when to usher in a new generation.”
“It’s time to promote leaders in Washington, DC who won’t kowtow to the military contractors or push us deeper into foreign conflicts,” he continued.
“We need representation who will prioritize American wellness over all else,” Kennedy urged, adding “I believe Rand Paul would be an incredible successor. He’s shown great judgment and has the grit to put hardworking Americans first.”

Paul has clashed with McConnell on too many occasions to recall, the latest being over the spending bill that would send $100 billion overseas in foreign aid.
“It’s criminal neglect for Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer, and Joe Biden to get together to send $100 billion overseas to fix someone else’s border before addressing our border,” Paul said earlier this month, labelling it “outrageous” and “rotten.”
“We have an emergency, we have an invasion,” Paul further noted, adding “We have 700,000 people who came across in the last two months, and they’re willing just to punt on that. You know, they put forward a fake proposal, it wasn’t any good. We shot it down.”
“The leadership of the Senate under Mitch McConnell is more concerned with sending your money to Ukraine than they are with the invasion of the southern border, and I’ve had enough,” Paul urged, vowing “I’m going to do everything in my power to slow down and stop this.”

McConnell is stepping down after previously rubbishing criticisms that he was too old to continue his duty as Senate Republican leader, after two separate episodes when he appeared to freeze up.

After McConnell’s office attributed the medical issues to dehydration, Rand Paul expressed doubts, noting “I’ve practiced medicine for 25 years and to me it looks like a focal neurological event.”
